To: Local League Presidents and Voter Service Directors
From: Maggie Moehringer, VP Voter Service, LWVNYS

We have been approached by the American Cancer Society about the possibility
of
co-sponsoring debates at the local level for certain targeted congressional
districts in New York State. As I'm sure you know, co-sponsoring debates
serves
to increase their visibility, encourages candidates to come, and increases
the
potential audience. The ACS is a suitable non-partisan not-for-profit
partner,
does not endorse candidates, and should have no problem signing our
non-partisan
agreements. Their motivation for partnering, of course, is to encourage the
candidates
to weigh in on their agenda items.

Here are the congressional districts of interest and the geographic
areas/counties or parts thereof they are comprised of:

CD 1 (Tim Bishop, incumbent; Suffolk Co, eastern LI)

CD 13 (Michael McMahon, incumbent; Staten Island, Brooklyn)

CD 19 (John Hall, incumbent; Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, and Westchester
Counties, in addition to the entirety of Putnam County)

CD 23 (William Owens, incumbent; Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton,

Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Oswego and St. Lawrence counties)

CD 24 (Michael Arcuri, incumbent; Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland,
Herkimer,
Oneida, Ontario, Otsego, Seneca, Tioga and Tompkins counties)

CD 29 (open seat; all of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben,
Yates, parts of Monroe, Ontario counties).

Please get back to me if you are planning US representative candidate events
in
one of these congressional districts and/or are interested in partnering
with
the ACS in doing so.

Regards to all.
