Hello everyone and I'm sure you're already very busy. Here's a couple of
tidbits. 1). From the look of the petitions, Supreme Court justices
(actually judicial delegates and alternates to the conventions) are being
elected in all judicial districts except JD1 and 2 (New York and Kings
Counties) and JD6, which is Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware,
Madison, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga and Thompkins Counties. 2). Still no clues
on any ballot issues but I will keep asking/snooping; legalized casino
gambling will not be on the ballot; 3). Suggested Questions for your guides
are below.

The LWVNYS Board has agreed upon the following questions and question
suggestions for use in our Voters Guide part II and in Smart Voter:
1. Senate (for state voters guide)/Congress (suggestions for local voters
guides)
IMMIGRATION: What changes to our current immigration policy do you support?
CLIMATE CHANGE: What legislation do you support to reduce CO2 emissions?
WARS IN IRAG/AFGHANISTAN: What timetable would you support for the removal
of
troops from Iraq and Afghanistan?
ECONOMY: Do you support substantial additional federal funding for economic
recovery?
2. Governor (for state voters guide)/NYS Senators, Assemblypersons
(suggestions
for local voters guides)
ECONOMY: What measures do you support to save existing jobs and create new
jobs
in New York State?
BUDGET: How do you think New York can best deal with upcoming unsustainable
deficit budgets?
REFORM: What reforms would you propose to address inadequate campaign
finance
rules and enforcement in New York?
REFORM: What reforms would you support for the redistricting process?
EDUCATION: Would you support a cap on property taxes and, if so, how do you
think school districts can deal with the decrease in revenue?
3. Attorney General/Comptroller
What qualifies you for the office?
What do you see as the greatest challenges and highest priorities?
What are your solutions?
