Re:  “Welcome to the LWV” Brochure & Membership Section of “In League”



As you begin your new League year, you will find two special projects
completed this summer to help local leagues as they prepare for a productive
year.  They can be found on the Local League Resources page of the state
website (find the link on the left side of the homepage). The Local League
Resources section of the website has been completely reorganized and updated
and now includes a separate Membership section.  Take a look and please let
me know of any additional changes, which you believe would make it more
useful.



The first new project is that the “Welcome to the LWV” brochure has been
updated and reprinted with an attractive presentation.  I have found this
document useful when I meet with new or prospective members and share with
them what the League is all about.  The document is available electronically
on the Local League Resources page of the website, under Membership.   It
can also be ordered at the very low price of 50 copies for $10.00 plus tax
and shipping through the State Office.  Let us know how it is working for
you.



Second, the Membership section of “In League” has been reorganized and
updated. The document “In League” is available on the Local League Resources
page of the website; scroll down to the Membership Chapter which is totally
revised.  The most important guidelines are found in the first
responsibility of the Membership Director’s job description: form a
committee and develop a written plan for the year to recruit and retain
members.  If you are new as chair or want to strike out in a refreshing new
direction, read on from there for a wealth of ideas.  Any one of them will
give you a great start for the year.



By now the Presidents will have received notification from their regional
directors about conference calls following the September state board
meeting.  One item on the agenda will be to share with each other your
membership plans as noted above.
