[LocalLeaguePresidents] Cost for 2010 Students Inside Albany Conference

Hi all-

Many Leagues have requested information about the cost to send more than one
student to the Students Inside Albany conference. The conference will be
held this year from April 11-14, 2010.



Each local League is entitled to send one student to the conference at no
cost, except that the local League is responsible for transporting or
arranging for transportation (train or bus ticket) to Albany. The State
League acquires funding from outside organizations to financially support
this program. This year our goal is to increase participation of students
and to have one student from each local League.



In the past, each local League was allowed to send additional students to
the program for a small fee. This year, given our financial resources, we
cannot subsidize the costs for this second student. The actual cost per
student for the program is  $700.  While we hope to decrease this cost
through receipt of additional grants, and to pass the savings on to local
Leagues, we suggest that local Leagues wishing to send additional students
should budget the full $700 cost.



We would be happy to work with local Leagues who wish to obtain foundation
or corporate support to send additional students.



Also, to assist in recruitment of students, contact Stephanie at the state
League office (Stephanie at lwvny.org or 518-465-4162) to purchase brochures of
the program to use in talking with the schools. Additional suggestions on
ways to locate and select students for the program was available in the
September and November State Board Reports (on our website) or is available
from Stephanie. Again, we would love to have ALL local Leagues send a
student to the conference this year. I have also attached a flyer which can
be modified to include your League name and contact person and then posted
in schools and community youth facilities (YMCAs, Park Districts, etc) to
encourage participation of students.
