Dear Local Leaguers~
We will be sending the "New York State Voter" via email to all of our
members starting in November. In order to do this, it would be very helpful
if you made sure that your e-mail address and the e-mail addresses of your
fellow Leaguers (by passing the message) are in the National Database and
updated whenever necessary. Procedures are also being developed to make
paper copies available of the NYS Voter at a small cost to those request it;
watch for more information on this option.
This is not and should not be a painstaking task---you can log into the
National website and update your own League contact information by clicking
"Manage Your Account" on the left hand side (after you have logged in) to
enter or update your e-mail address. OR you can contact your President or
me to let us know to please put your e-mail or update your e-mail address on
the National Database.
I know that everyone is weary of giving out their e-mail address for fear of
getting too much e-mail, so I asked National if and how they use member
e-mail addresses and this is their response:
"Yes we do use them - but prudently - we NEVER sell them to anyone else.
With general members we only use them to send the monthly E-Voice, they get
an "E-Engagement" piece about once a month and for those that have signed up
they get action alerts to help lobby Congress as necessary.
With local and state LEADERS (those coded as local or state board members)
in addition to the above info we send the following :
1. Weekly Update from with tips, updates and funding opportunities
2. Notices about PMP statement mailings
3. Calls to national meetings (e.g. call to convention) or activities
(Roster deadline update info).
We do try to keep to what most people would interpret as prudent and not
over bearing."
It is important to keep your information up to date in the national database
so you do not miss communications from your state League and the LWVUS.
Call or e-mail if you have any questions and don't forget, keep those e-mail
addresses coming.
